Lia Quartapelle is an Italian Member of Parliament of the Democratic Party (PD) since March 2013, and Party Leader of the Commission of Foreign and European Affairs of the House of Representatives, currently member of the special commission on the case of Giulio Regeni. Since March 2021 she has been a party executive member and responsible person for Foreign and European Affairs and Cooperation. Her constituency is the City of Milan. After a Master at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and having completed her PhD in Economics University of Pavia, she became a research fellow at ISPI Institute and is primarily concerned with economic issues relating to Africa. In 2007, she was an economist for the Italian Government in Mozambique.
