Gergely Karácsony

Gergely Karácsony (46) is a green, left-wing politician, Lord Mayor of Budapest, and co-chair of the progressive Hungarian party Dialogue (Párbeszéd). He was elected mayor in October 2019 as the joint candidate of five Hungarian opposition parties. Previously he served as mayor of Budapest’s 14th district (2014-2019) and MP of the LMP party (2010-2013). He is a sociologist and former university lecturer by profession, specializing in electoral behaviour, election campaigns and electoral systems.
