New Economic Paradigms
Twelve years after the financial crisis we have once again entered a period of economic uncertainty. However this time around, the current Covid-19 crisis has given a new legitimacy to public intervention in the economy. For progressives, it is key to ensure that this new paradigm of an active public sector is not a temporary political trend but rather the beginning of a new course of action. As the divide between conservative and progressive shifts more on what the state can do and how it can invest, how can progressives work towards new economic paradigms? This session discusses what lessons have been learned through the multiple crises, how we can avoid previous mistakes and what type of intervention and investment is truly forward-thinking and for all.
